Craig Charles is a well-known Red Dwarf and Coronation Street actor, was a contestant in the fourteenth season of I'm a Celebrity UK, but ended up having to pull out of the show on November 19th,2014 and finishing in 11th place.

Background

Craig was born on 11th July,1964 and consequently raised in Liverpool. Upon finishing his schooling years, Craig went to work at a studio in Central Hall, Renshaw Street. At that point in time his eloquence in conversation and within his poetry was something new. Craig began his professional career as a contemporary urban performance poet, working on the British cabaret circuit.

While out at a Teadrops concert, Craig climbed onto the stage and recited a humorous and derogatory poem about the leader of the band, then consequently being asked back to help open subsequent gigs for the group. Craig soon became involved in the Liverpool music scene; writing and singing lyrics for a number of local groups in the area. Charles went onto to gain a variety of musical gigs, before beginning in television with his performance poetry.

This poetry was performed on BBC shows such as Riverdale and Pebble Mill at One, as well as being the resident poet on the Channel 4 programme; Black on Black. Craig went on to continue his TV poetry, as well as get involved with shows such as Red Dwarf and Coronation Street, that catapulted him into both the cult-TV space and soap-space. In 2014, Craig took part in the fourteenth season of I'm a Celebrity, where he was eventually forced to pull-out on December 19t,2014 due to the death of his brother and therefore finishing in 11th Place.
